Standard Game Rules

The Draft.

Your team will consist of 30 golfers that you draft before the deadline.

Golfers are ranked into 6 tiers with each tier having 20 golfers each. BGL ranks all the golfers from 1-120 to determine those 6 tiers.

Each team selects 5 golfers from each of the 6 tiers, no more and no less.  Five times six equals thirty golfers in total.  If a golfer is not in a tier, i.e. ranked outside the 120 or not ranked at all, you may write-in (search and select from our database) a golfer in any tier as one of the 5 golfers for that tier.

Note: you may not write-in a golfer who is already listed and ranked from 1-120 as you cannot move the golfer to a different tier. If you cannot find a particular golfer, then contact us and we will add the golfer to our database for you to write-in.

The 30 golfers on your team will accumulate points and score under your league rules as you compete with other teams.

I. Manage Fantasy Scoring & Points.

We play with the Top 7 scores from each tournament, getting points as shown below. REMEMBER: these are top scores not the golfer rank or position at the end of a tournament. Usually, the top 7 scores result in 15-25 golfers earning points. In a Standard tournament the top 7 scores earn 10,6,5,4,3,2,1 points.

Take a look at results of the first PGA tournament (The Sentry) of the season from 2024.

In this tournament the Top 7 real scores were -29, -28, -27, -26, -25, -24 and -23. Thirteen golfers earned points in our game from this tournament. Chris Kirk won and received 10 points(*) with the 1st Score. Other golfers scored points. For example, the 6th score (-24) gave 2 points each to Jason Day and Xander Schauffele, and the 7th Score (-23) gave 1 point to Sepp Straka and Patrick Cantlay.

The Commissioner can set the awarding of points for the Top 5-9 Scores and again, we play with 7.

(*) see Signature Boost below as The Sentry is a Signature event and may be modified by your league.

II. Playoff Tiebreaker.

We play that if the golfer is in a tie at the end of regulation and loses the tiebreaker he gets 8 points for the 2nd Score instead of the usual 6 points. You can change this or set it to be the same as your 2nd Score if there is no playoff.

III. Majors Boost.

For the 4 Majors (Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open Championship) we boost the points by 5 for the winner and he gets 15 instead of the standard 10. You can choose not to boost these or boost by a different amount.

IV. Player’s Championship.

We count THE PLAYERS Championship as a 5th major by default as many consider this tournament extra special but the Commissioner can toggle this to not be boosted (see image). If boosted, then the winner gets the same boost as the 4 Majors, i.e. 15 points.

V. Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

This is a special team event during the PGA season. We provide Commissioners with an option to count or not count this event. If counting, then each golfer in the team will get the points displayed. So, for example, the winning team of 2 golfers would give each of them 5 points (see image). We give points to the top 4 team Scores. This can be adjusted by the Commissioner or toggled off.

VI. Signature Tournament Boost.

There are 8 Signature events and if the Commissioner wants these boosted to count for more than a Standard tournament then points can be adjusted like we do in our league. For example, if the league believes these should be somewhere between a Major and a Standard tournament then the 1st Score would be 12 points instead of 15 or 10. The Commissioner can set this to any value.

Schedule.

The 8 Signature events in 2025 that would be affected are listed here.

VII. Olympics.

Every 4 years an Olympic golf tournament is played, and you have the option to count this tournament if you wish.
